Qualifications:
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience establishing and leading national collaborations across museums, including:
- Planning and facilitating programming, convenings, and professional development;
- Serving as a liaison among partner organizations and internal stakeholders; and
- Leading communications and relationship-building in support of collaborations.

Responsibilities:
The Program Specialist manages national outreach, museum collaborations, and partner programming for the Unit, in particular supporting the Smithsonian Affiliations program. The position works closely with a subset of Smithsonian Affiliates and other cultural organizations to develop and implement national programming, convenings, professional development, collections loans, exhibit collaborations, internships, etc.
In this position, you will:
- Lead active collaborations among Smithsonian Affiliates, other partners and Smithsonian units, including object loans, content development, educational and public programs, convenings, etc.
- Serve as liaison to other SI museums and offices, partner museums, and community/program participants.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate collaborative programs that support the Smithsonian’s mission.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of Affiliations convenings and other metings and events.
- Build strong relationships with leadership and review Affiliates to ensure they meet all for Affiliation.

Coordinate, produce, review, and distribute informational materials—such as brochures, fact sheets, criteria, and program documents—describing Affiliations program activities for the public, museums, scholarly organizations, and Congress.
