As the Senior Manager, Procurement – Warehousing at Smithfield Foods, you will spearhead strategic sourcing initiatives for transportation services across all modes—road, rail, air, and sea. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive cost optimization, enhance service reliability, and ensure regulatory compliance while aligning transportation strategies with broader supply chain objectives. You will cultivate high-impact partnerships with carriers, manage supplier performance, and uncover long-term value opportunities that strengthen Smithfield’s logistics network. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering efficient, resilient, and high-quality transportation solutions that support the company’s operational excellence and growth. Warehousing Procurement Strategy: Lead sourcing initiatives for warehousing services, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management to support operational efficiency and scalability. Cost & Network Optimization: Analyze warehousing spend and market dynamics to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall supply chain performance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure warehousing procurement strategies align with broader business objectives. Performance & Compliance Management: Establish and monitor KPIs for warehouse service providers, ensuring adherence to performance standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation: Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems, mitigate operational risks by diversifying the supplier base, and develop contingency plans for critical warehousing functions. Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching. WHAT WE’RE SEEKING: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Leadership Background: 2 years of demonstrated experience in tea. management/development or project leadership is required. Warehousing & Procurement Expertise: Extensive background in strategic procurement or logistics, with a focus on warehousing operations, vendor management, and service execution. Negotiation & Contract Management: Demonstrated success in leading complex negotiations and managing contracts with warehousing providers and third-party logistics partners. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of warehousing markets, inventory management principles, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Technology & Analytics: Proficiency in procurement tools and analytics platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tableau). Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills. Thrives in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
