What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Day Custodian position at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School?
Overview of the Position: Under general supervision of the Facilities Director, the Head Day Custodian performs routinecustodial and maintenance duties requiring considerable responsibility and judgment. The Head Day Custodiansupervises custodial staff, coordinates building operations, ensures facilities are clean, safe, and properly maintained,and performs related maintenance and custodial duties as required.Primary/other Functions: Oversees and supervises custodial staff. Establishes work schedules and priorities. Assigns tasks to staff and inspects completed work.
Arranges meeting rooms and facility setups. Opens and closes buildings and ensures facilities are prepared before and after use. Maintains inventories of supplies, tools, and equipment. Reports equipment and facility repair needs.
Cleans and disinfects facilities and performs minor maintenance repairs. Operates heating/cooling systems and custodial equipment. Moves furniture, removes snow, maintains grounds, and secures buildings. Performs other related duties as assigned.Recommended Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience: High school diploma preferred; two years of progressively responsible custodial experience or equivalent.Knowledge, Ability and Skill: General knowledge of custodial methods and materials.
Ability to supervise employees and communicate effectively.Massachusetts Class D driver's license required.Physical RequirementsConstant moderate to strenuous physical effort. Extensive walking, standing, reaching, stooping, and climbing.Frequently lifts or moves furniture and equipment weighing 60 pounds or more.Conditions of EmploymentSubject to CORI/SORI background checks and verification of employment eligibility.
