What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal - Corporate, Estate Planning, & Probate position at Smith Pauley LLP?
Job Duties:
· Preparation and editing of draft organizational documents, including, but not limited to, articles of incorporation or dissolution, stock certificates and merger agreements, contracts, estate planning documents, probate pleadings, motions, correspondence, e-mail and other written materials.
· Preparation of initial draft estate planning documents - including trusts, wills, and powers of attorney - for attorney review and editing.
· Preparation of deeds and other legal documents, as requested, for attorney review and editing.
· Maintain corporate records, manage compliance and handle registration requirements for entities.
· Facilitate compliance with regulatory and legal requirements by tracking filing deadlines and ensuring documents are filed correctly.
· Organize and manage electronic and paper files to ensure information is easily accessible.
· Perform all technology-related assignments, as requested.
· Perform legal research, as requested.
· Perform court record searches and civil and criminal background checks.
· Management and command of both internal and external deadlines.
· File legal documents with courts and other appropriate offices.
· Record deeds.
· Communicate and meet with clients, as requested, to accomplish specific tasks.
· Perform other job-related duties as needed to help drive our vision, mission, and values.
Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Maintain a high proficiency level in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw, ShareFile, and other internet research tools.
· Knowledge and experience with managing, processing, and maintaining electronically stored information including management and oversight of documents.
· Demonstrate reliability and willingness to work in a complex and fast-paced environment
· Ability to meet the requirements of the position and accept a wide variety of assignments as requested
· Routinely take initiative to move projects to conclusion
· Ability to creatively problem solve.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; command of grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
· Ability to handle legal documents and other information with confidentiality and professional discretion.

Education and Experience:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or similar field required.
· Advanced Certified Paralegal certification from NALA-The Paralegal Association preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
