The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the graphics production department. This position combines leadership and hands-on production responsibilities — ensuring that all projects, from large-format printing to fabrication and shipping, are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The supervisor works closely with the General Manager, design team, and installation crew to maintain workflow, meet deadlines, and uphold Smith Graphics’ standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities across all departments.
- Operate and oversee large-format printers, laminators, and plotters.
- Run and maintain flatbed CNC cutters for precision trimming and fabrication.
- Safely operate a forklift for loading, unloading, and staging materials.
- Schedule and assign production staff to ensure balanced workloads and efficient output.
- Monitor progress of all active jobs to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Perform quality control checks on printed, cut, and fabricated materials before delivery or installation.
- Maintain an organized production area, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with safety standards.
- Work with the General Manager to plan production schedules, track inventory, and manage material needs.
- Train new employees on equipment operation, production processes, and safety procedures.
- Identify process improvements and assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Communicate effectively with design, sales, and installation teams to coordinate project flow.
- 3 years of experience in large-format graphics, signage production, or related manufacturing environment (required)
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Hands-on experience running wide-format printers, laminators, and flatbed CNC cutters.
- Forklift operation experience (certification preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software, and production tracking systems is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Full-time, on-site position in a production facility environment.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven operation with close collaboration between design, production, and installation teams.
