Duties
- Support the Treasurer/Assistant Treasurer per his/her requests
- Liaison with bookkeeper for input and controls
- Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes utilizing QuickBooks
- Conduct month-end closing activities, including general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining precise data entry and bookkeeping practices.
- Support internal audits by preparing documentation related to governmental accounting standards and internal controls.
- Preparation of Annual Reports (Fed, State and others)
- Preparation of expense budgets if requested
- Audit contacts (Independent CPAs, and others)
- Tax Returns (prepared by CPA, help with prep, payment, and filing
- Maintenance of existing internal control procedures
- Become familiar with brokerage accounts
- Routine reconciliations - bank accounts and investment accounts, reports and analysis
- Office Manager (Admin Duties) - Follow existing workflows and documents for ongoing operational processes needed for business continuity; become familiar with existing centralized cloud-based filing system for scanned and electronic documents; maintain all records, staff to Board of Directors and meetings; familiar with AV equipment; Minutes; website updates; "Go to person" for all administrative duties
EXPERIENCE
- Proven accounting experience (5 years) in a corporate or governmental setting, with familiarity in public accounting preferred as well as investment accounting
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation techniques.
- Hands-on experience and proficiency with Quickbooks; Excel data analysis is somewhat important.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries accurately.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
