Job Title: Accounting Clerk (Focus on AR & Trust Accounting)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to support daily cash application and trust accounting activities. This role is well-suited for someone who is highly detail-oriented, dependable in execution, and capable of working through payment issues and discrepancies as they arise.
You’ll play a key role in keeping accounts accurate and up to date, while partnering with the broader accounting team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and apply daily payments (checks, ACH/wires, credit cards) with a high degree of accuracy
- Reconcile deposits between bank activity and the accounting system and flag discrepancies
- Research and resolve unapplied cash, payment variances, and application issues
- Apply payments across multiple invoices, including more complex or split-payment scenarios
- Maintain complete and organized documentation to support all transactions
Trust Accounting
- Record trust deposits and maintain supporting documentation and tracking
- Process trust disbursements and confirm accuracy prior to release
- Assist with transfers between trust and operating accounts, including overpayments
Collaboration & Problem Solving
- Partner with attorneys and internal teams to resolve billing and payment questions
- Escalate issues as needed while taking initiative to research and propose solutions
Qualifications
- 3 years of accounts receivable or cash applications experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume transactional work
- Solid reconciliation skills and comfort working with financial data
- Organized, reliable, and able to meet daily deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Highly Preferred
- Prior law firm or professional services accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with trust accounting and trust account compliance
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
