We are looking for an experienced Foreman who can lead crews, manage daily operations, and deliver high-quality work safely and efficiently.
Position Summary
The Civil Construction Foreman is responsible for day-to-day field leadership of one or more crews performing excavation, utility installation, grading, and related site-development work. This role serves as the key link between the field, project management, and company leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and motivate field crews on civil construction projects
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications
- Read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, and grade stakes
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Monitor productivity, quality, and jobsite cleanliness
- Track labor hours, equipment usage, and materials
- Assist with layout, grades, and utility installation oversight
- Identify potential issues and proactively communicate solutions
- Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, and the public
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Foreman or Lead in civil / site-development construction
- Strong knowledge of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm), excavation, and grading
- Ability to read plans and understand site layout and elevations
- Proven leadership and crew management skills
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA standards
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPS machine control and/or grade checking
- Experience with pump stations & wastewater treatment
- Experience with deep shaft excavations
- CDL or ability to obtain one
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience coordinating with inspectors and municipalities
