Smiley Publishing—publisher of The Laker, Along Route 16, Home Magazine, Dining Out in the Lakes Region, and Scenic White Mountains Magazine—is looking for a sharp-eyed Proofreader / Copy Editor to join our creative, fast-paced team in Wolfeboro, NH.
This part-time, in-person role (15–20 hours/week, with potential for more in our busy seasons) is ideal for someone who thrives on catching errors others miss, loves the written word, and enjoys working collaboratively in a small, flexible office environment.
We’re looking for someone available to work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with some flexibility on other days during production deadlines.
What You’ll Do:
- Proofread and copy edit editorial content and ads for grammar, spelling, clarity, and consistency
- Collaborate with our editorial and design teams to polish final layouts
- Contribute to the creative process and maintain our high-quality publishing standards
- Assist with occasional office tasks that help keep our operations running smoothly
- Be part of a team passionate about local storytelling and quality publications
What We’re Looking For:
- Impeccable grammar and spelling skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Strong editorial judgment and a creative mindset
- Mac-savvy and comfortable using editing and publishing tools
- A team player who’s flexible, dependable, and organized
- Familiarity with the Lakes Region is a big plus
- Must be within commuting distance to Wolfeboro, NH
