Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Open Dental or Dentrix
- Manage multi-line phone systems, handle patient inquiries, and provide outstanding customer service with professional phone etiquette
- Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols
- Review and update patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and perform medical billing and coding using CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes to ensure proper documentation and reimbursement
- Maintain organized medical records, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, appointment confirmations, and managing office supplies to keep the clinic running efficiently
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office setting or medical administrative support role with familiarity in dental terminology and clinic procedures
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, Meditech or Athenahealth is a plus
- Proficiency in medical coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification, billing processes, and health information management
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to navigate multi-system environments like eClinicalWorks or Care plans effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor and effective phone etiquette in handling patient interactions
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and office management tasks
