Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using medical imaging equipment and ensure proper radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration prior to procedures.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-operative care, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain aseptic techniques throughout all clinical procedures to prevent infection transmission.
- Assist with medical documentation and coding for insurance claims or medical records management.
- Support dental reception duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners and intraoral cameras to facilitate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, infection control, and medical documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, or endodontics is highly valued.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols within a dental environment.
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging safely following radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
- Excellent chairside assisting skills including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Familiarity with dental imaging technology including 3D scanners and intraoral cameras.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in radiography or x-ray technology is desirable but not mandatory; ongoing training will be provided for the right candidate.
