Dental Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a sterile environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused setting with a focus on general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, is preferred. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
• Take and develop dental X-rays using medical imaging equipment and ensure proper radiation safety protocols.
• Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration prior to procedures.
• Educate patients on dental terminology, post-operative care, and infection control procedures.
• Maintain aseptic techniques throughout all clinical procedures to prevent infection transmission.
• Assist with medical documentation and coding for insurance claims or medical records management.
• Support dental reception duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
• Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners and intraoral cameras to facilitate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, infection control, and medical documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, or endodontics is highly valued.
• Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix is preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols within a dental environment.
• Ability to perform X-ray imaging safely following radiation safety standards.
• Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
• Excellent chairside assisting skills including four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Familiarity with dental imaging technology including 3D scanners and intraoral cameras.
• Ability to maintain professionalism while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Certification in radiography or x-ray technology is desirable but not mandatory; ongoing training will be provided for the right candidate.
