Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Opendental
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, ensuring accurate billing and coding
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with attention to detail in medical records and documentation review
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously
- Perform insurance verification, authorization, and follow-up on claims using EMR systems.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, dental charts, and office documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support medical billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical terminology to facilitate accurate claims submission
- Assist with medical scheduling, intake procedures, and data entry
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards and health information management protocols
Skills
- 1 years of experience in a dental office front desk role required
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR system Opendental preffered
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and healthcare documentation standards
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with health information management systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements to safeguard patient privacy at all times
