Solon Smiles is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing team on a part-time basis. Schedule
Part-Time
- Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Solon Location)
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Solon Location)
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Mentor Location)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures
- Assist the dentist during restorative, cosmetic, surgical, and preventive treatments
- Place and finish dental restorations (fillings) in accordance with EFDA licensure and state regulations
- Take dental impressions and fabricate temporary crowns or restorations
- Apply sealants, fluoride treatments, and desensitizing agents
- Take and process digital dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Perform coronal polishing and other expanded functions permitted by state law
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation
- Sterilize instruments and follow infection control protocols
- Monitor inventory and ensure operatories are stocked and organized
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program
- Current Ohio EFDA certification/licensure required
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards
- Strong communication and patient care skills

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Excellent customer service and patient communication skills
- Proficiency with dental software and digital radiography
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
