Corrections Officer (Full-Time) - Solon Police Department

The City of Solon will be establishing a list of candidates for the position of Full-Time Corrections Officer for the Solon Police Department.

Corrections Officers maintain the safety and security of the Solon Detention Facility while maintaining the care, custody and control of inmates. This position is governed under a collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association with starting pay identified in the current contract as $23.5894 per hour without an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) Corrections certificate and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Blood Alcoholic Content (BAC) machine operator certificate, $25.8217 per hour with the OPOTC Corrections certificate and ODH BAC operator certificate, and top pay of $32.5077 per hour after four years. The successful candidate will be trained in 160 hours on-the-job training program and will be required to successfully complete the Correction Officer Basic Academy course and become a State Certified Correction Officer; however, preference will be given to those candidates currently holding this certification. CPR, First Aid and AED training are helpful. Candidates must be at least nineteen years of age by appointment date, have excellent communication, time management and problem-solving skills. Applicants must pass a criminal background investigation, voice–stress analyzer, psychological examination and medical examination.
