The City of Solon has an opening for a full-time, unclassified, Secretary I position in the Engineering Department. This position performs clerical, secretarial and administrative work along with recurring office duties in the Engineering Department in accordance with Department and City guidelines, procedures and policies.
Primary tasks and responsibilities for this position include answering incoming phone calls from resident concerns to contractor requests; coordinating pre-construction meetings with contractors, assisting with preparation of the agenda, and preparing the minutes; preparing, receiving, filing, retrieving and distributing various department documents and permits; and composing, typing and editing a variety of correspondence, reports, dictation, etc. which require understanding of the technical aspects.
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency certificate and specialized course work in office practices and working knowledge of the complete micro-soft office suite. Financial course management experience preferred. Applicants must also have a minimum of five (5) years of related office work experience, in which it is preferred that at least one of the years is within a municipality or similar government agency.
The Secretary I position reports to the City Engineer or their Designee. This position offers a starting rate of $21.2916/hour.
