POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Welding Supervisor to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safety, productivity and security of all production employees staffed on a designated shift. You will be responsible for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality parameters while adhering to all safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all safety and health guidelines and rules are enforced and practiced by employees.
- Oversee the production process, assigning tasks to workstations and personnel, coordinate schedules and material flow to meet production deadlines. Maintain required logs and documentation.
- Facilitate effective communication between employees and shop management, and collaborate with other departments including shipping, maintenance, safety, and human resources.
- Supervise, train, and mentor fitters and welders. Review the performance of subordinates, know their skill levels, and provide leadership and development to improve the capabilities the individual and team as a whole.
- Work with human resources to investigate, document, and provide coaching and discipline for violations of SME’s policies and procedures. Pay particular attention to violations of all SME safety requirements.
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment, and that prescribed line and lifting device preventative maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 3 or more years of fitter/welder experience with strong technical welding skills including Flux-Cored (FCAW), Metal-Cored (MCAW), Gas-Shielded Metal Cored (GMAW-C) Welding processes.
- Able to read blueprints and welding symbols, and use basic math.
- Able to physically perform task requirements including lifting 65 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work extended hours.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise employees and production processes, provide mentorship and technical support to fitters and welders.
- Able to create accountability and lead by example, consistently meeting expectations for safety, punctuality and attendance, professionalism, quality, and productivity.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities. Must be able to set priorities, identify and address problems, and meet project requirements.
Preferred:
- AWS Certified Welder or other welding certifications
