What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cleanroom Manufacturing Operator position at SMC Medical Manufacturing?
Role Overview
Help build high-quality components in a cleanroom environment while meeting daily production, safety, and documentation standards. This is a day shift role working 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on a 12-hour rotating schedule that includes two weekends per month.
What You’ll Do
- Run production equipment per SWIs/SOPs to achieve output and quality goals.
- Read and follow controlled work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Conduct visual inspections; report defects to the Cell Lead or QC.
- Isolate and record scrap via SMC’s Red Bin Procedure.
- Confirm equipment is operating properly; escalate issues to the Cell Lead or Shift Supervisor.
- Maintain an orderly, safe workspace and adhere to cleanroom protocols.
- Complete records using proper GDP; follow standard work and cGMP guidelines.
- Learn Lock Out/Tag Out as an affected employee.
- Consistently demonstrate professional conduct and reliable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Level I
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- English literacy (read, write, speak, comprehend).
- Team-oriented and capable of independent work; self-starter.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail; strong manual dexterity preferred.
Level II
- Level I requirements plus 6 months of manufacturing experience (required).
Level III
- Level II requirements.
- Cleanroom manufacturing experience preferred.
- Skilled at assisting Cell Leads with training and oversight of newer associates.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, grasping, reaching, and lifting/moving.
- Lift/move up to 50 lbs. frequently (more on occasion).
- Continuous walking/standing.
- Exposure to machine shop hazards and chemicals; respiratory protection may be required.
- Occasional seated computer/keyboard work and fine grasping.
