What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Network Engineer Transport position at SmartSky Networks?
Summary of Position:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- High and lower level design of SmartSky transport and core network infrastructure including mobile backhaul network, WAN transport, virtualized data center network, peering and interconnection with upstream service providers and downstream partners and customers.
- Security design for SmartSky Core network including NSX Firewall policies, Fortinet Firewall, and the Cisco ASA.
- Develop test plan and perform engineering test for transport design validation.
- Provide Site-to-Site IPsec connectivity to SmartSky Partners.
- Working closely with SmartSky technology suppliers, private cloud service providers, WAN service providers, managed service provider and Internet service providers to deploy SmartSky transport network and Internet access according to SmartSky network deployment timeline.
- Working closely and communicating clearly with SmartSky customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to integrate SmartSky core network with other parts of the end to end network.
- Acting as design and technology expert and communicating closely with network service providers to provider on-going problem resolution support during deployment, pre production, and production phases.
- Provide SME support to SmartSky as business needed
- Traveling in support of business needs and company events when needed.
Desired/Required Skills, Qualifications, and Work Experience:
- Expert routing knowledge including OSPF and BGP
- Expert knowledge on IPv4 subnetting
- Expert security knowledge including FW policies on ASA and NSX platforms as well as IPsec VPNs
- Troubleshooting network issues from L1, L2 and L3
- Microsoft Visio skills to produce relevant network diagrams
- Documentation skills to produce Design document, configuration guides and MOPs
- High work ethics and great communication skills and a team player.
Required Certifications/Licenses/Degrees:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
- CCDP/CCIE or equivalent experience
