Human Resources Generalist (HR III)

About the Role

Smartscaping is seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Generalist (HR II) to support and strengthen our growing workforce. This role will partner closely with leadership and field operations to manage recruiting, employee relations, compliance, and HR processes across multiple crews and job sites.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, blue-collar environment and understands the unique needs of construction and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

• Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and workplace issues
• Support conflict resolution and corrective action processes
• Partner with leadership to promote a positive and accountable culture

Compliance & Administration

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Maintain employee records and HR documentation
• Assist with workers’ compensation and safety documentation
• Support audits and internal reporting

Strategic Support

• Support workforce planning and staffing forecasts
• Develop and improve HR processes and policies
• Contribute to retention and engagement initiatives

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of HR experience (construction, landscaping, or HR-based industries preferred)
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
• Experience with high-volume recruiting
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
