We are looking for an experienced field service computer hardware repair technician with 3-5 years of dispatch type field service work. You will have use of a company vehicle to travel site-to-site daily to provide support and repair services for reported issues from ServiceNow for desktop computers, peripherals, etc. This is not an entry-level position, experience with this type of work is required.The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Microsoft Windows desktops, laptops and peripherals. The Desktop Support Specialist will report to the Field Service Manager, and will work closely with other members of the technology department to support all end users. This position requires multi-year experience in hardware troubleshooting and repair on enterprise laptops and desktops as this is a large part of the work being performed. This is a site-to-site field service job with a company provided vehicle. Its primary tasks are hardware repair or hardware swap of failed desktops/laptops and related hardware.ResponsibilitiesRespond to new IT Support requests. Prioritize and document issues and resolutionsRespond to tickets and complete detailed responses in ticketing systemHardware/Desktop Repairs, replacements, and basic software configuration such as OS installations and driver configurationsConfiguring/Installing email clients, MS Office, and other software applicationsInstallation and configuration of printersTroubleshooting end-user problems with various desktop/laptop issuesRemoving threats (virus, malware, etc.)Tracking assets, and documenting software purchasesBasic network configurations in Windows (DHCP configuration versus static IP addresses)Work with the IT Administrator in handling other miscellaneous IT projectsRequirements2 year degree in a relevant field and/or professional experience5 years experience in troubleshooting and repair of desktop hardware, including the ability to install or replace hard drives, additional PCI cards, power supply units, RAM, and/or optical drivesSolid understanding of how to install the Windows OS (7, 10) and configure with necessary driversExperience with Active DirectoryFamiliar with basic server maintenance and network conceptsMust be knowledgeable with antivirus tools and understand how to use malware/spyware scanners and removal toolsAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (e.g. manipulating spreadsheets, setting up Outlook calendar invitations, PowerPoint slideshows, etc.)Must be able to work with other employees to provide support in a timely, and friendly mannerStrong multitasking skillsThe ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a teamA certification is preferredValid Driver’s license requiredMust pass a background checkMust pass a drug testAbility to lift and transfer parcels of 50 poundsDell certification is a plusOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
