What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Supervisor position at Smart Tech?
This position is
responsible for developing the MPS to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum
effective inventory considering order backlog, sales forecasts, customer expectations, and
internal supply constraints. This position requires an organized individual with a high
energy level that is self-motivated, and committed to excellence in a fast paced
manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing, MRP Planning,
inventory management, and kanban programs are required. Good written and verbal
communication skills are essential for this position to be successful. The ideal candidate
should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex Bills of Materials and resolve
conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities. This position reports to the Director
of Manufacturing for Systems Products.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate daily with operations management, purchasing, logistics, and shop
supervision to set and meet production goals.
Provide leadership and day to day supervision to a small team of buyer-planners.
Develop and communicate lead times for new order and committed ship dates to
the sales organization based upon uncommitted material and availability of
capacity.
Review and analyze available capacity. Identify areas of risk to Operations
Management.
Based upon MRP signals and kanbans to release work orders to the production
floor to support build plans.
Work with other systems team members, manufacturing engineers, quality
engineers, and manufacturing supervisors to understand the needs of both internal
and external customers.
Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan. Identify gaps and drive
solutions.
Identify improvements and solutions to planning processes and tools.
Work closely with warehouse management to analyze and resolve inventory
discrepancies.
Facilitate the timely closure of work orders and assist in resolving material issue
transactions.
Assist in New Product Introduction teams to plan NPI build capacity and
materials readiness.
Obtain quotes, select suppliers, award purchase orders and administer MRP or
Kanban action items that support the systems product lines production schedule.
Perform other duties as necessary to support meeting the systems operations team
goals.
Minimum requirements:5 to 10 years planning experience in a manufacturing environment. A BA or BS degree
is preferred, as is APICS certification. Experience and competence in the MS Teams &
Microsoft Office suite is required. Advanced MS Excel skills are a key skill set in this
role. Experience with Oracle Cloud or Thruput are preferred.
