Position Overview
Smart Septic is seeking a reliable CDL Class B Pump Truck Driver to operate septic pump trucks and perform residential and commercial septic pumping and service work. This position is hands-on and customer-facing, ideal for someone who takes pride in quality work, safe driving, and professional service.
The Pump Truck Driver is responsible for operating equipment safely, maintaining trucks, and representing Smart Septic professionally at customer properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate septic pump trucks for residential and commercial pumping
- Locate septic tanks and access lids
- Pump, clean, and service septic tanks and holding tanks
- Safely handle hoses, pumps, and equipment
- Transport and dispose of waste in accordance with regulations
- Communicate professionally with customers and answer basic service questions
- Complete service documentation and photos as required
- Perform daily truck inspections and basic maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of truck, tools, and job sites
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class B (air brakes and tank endorsement a plus)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to operate equipment and perform physical labor
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Septic pumping or wastewater experience
- Tank locating and inspection experience
- Ability to operate a jetter or additional service equipment
- Michigan septage handling experience
