Overview
The Permit Expediter Assistant will support our Permit Expediter by handling administrative tasks, coordinating with clients, contractors, and city/county departments, and ensuring all building permits and approvals are processed accurately and on time.
Duties
- Prepare, organize, and maintain permit files (digital and physical).
- Submit permit applications online or in person.
- Schedule inspections (building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical).
- Contact building departments for status updates, missing documents, or fee confirmation.
- Pick up approved permits, plans, or certificates as needed.
- Download and organize plan review comments.
- Flag issues for the Permit Expediter, architect, or contractor.
- Send correction comments and revised plans to the appropriate parties.
- Track resubmissions and review timelines.
- Provide updates to clients on permit progress.
- Request missing items from contractors or owners.
- Serve as liaison between owners, contractors, architects/engineers, and city reviewers.
- Assist with scheduling and tracking inspections.
- Collect final approvals (Certificate of Completion, Certificate of Occupancy).
- Archive and close permit files once completed.
- Assist in managing unsafe structure or code compliance violations.
- Gather proof of correction and coordinate re-inspections with Code Enforcement.
- Collect required documents: plans, surveys, contractor licenses, insurance certificates, affidavits, and HOA approvals.
- Upload documents to city/county permit portals (EnerGov, Accela, ePlans, etc.).
- Track permit numbers, statuses, fees, and deadlines.

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 45 per week
