Role: Business Analyst with Asset Management

Location: Baltimore, MD (4 days a week from Office)

About the Role

You will play a key role in helping the data product engineering team achieve delivery excellence. You will be working with our business stakeholders to review requirements, refine them and convert them into technical requirements and stories to be picked up by our engineers and tested by our quality engineers. You will also play a key role in coordinating between engineers, product owners, testers and consumers to ensure the team delivers business and quality in the most efficient way. You will ensure that work is in alignment with the overarching business, data and technical strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Convert functional requirements from product owners and business stakeholders into clear, well-groomed technical requirements ready to be implemented by engineers
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure the team’s backlog is in a good state and all delivery teams have what they need to produce good quality deliverables in a timely manner
• Analyze complex data scenarios and translate them into well-articulated requirements
• Work closely with data governance, data architecture, data product owner and business teams to solicit and validate data requirements and business rules and ensure the requirements are in alignment with data standards and best practices
• Review the requirements with the technology team to ensure they understand the requirements and coordinate with them on the requirement change
• Develop test cases, plan and strategy and conduct rigorous testing to ensure data quality
• Participate in functional testing of deliveries
• Provide support for issues and questions from business and technology teams
• Apply a lean agile mindset to work and support organizational agility

Qualifications:

• 8 years of related experience with data analysis and requirement gathering in the asset management industry
• Experience collaborating directly with stakeholders, eliciting business requirements, questioning and challenging where necessary
• Good understanding of Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum preferred) and experience participating in and driving some of the ceremonies
• Hands-on experience working with relational databases and data models, writing SQL queries, and performing detailed data analysis
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Able to quickly learn new technologies and stay abreast of industry trends
• Prior experience in the Financial Services and Asset Management industries
• Knowledge of JSON structures and Rest API calls preferred
