Key Responsibilities
- System Installation & Integration: Mount, wire, configure, and commission commercial-grade security systems, including IP CCTV cameras, networked access control panels, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and fire alarm components.
- Diagnostics & Field Service: Conduct diagnostic field visits to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across low voltage wiring, structured cabling, network drops, and hardware components.
- Network Configuration: Apply solid networking principles to assign IP addresses, configure routers/switches, and establish secure remote access software connections for off-site system monitoring and support.
- Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation: Read and precisely execute installation plans using electrical schematics, architectural blueprints, and system topology diagrams.
- Infrastructure & Project Management: Manage cabling paths and pathways using hand/power tools, ensuring all installations strictly adhere to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, local building codes, and safety protocols.
- Client Consultation & Training: Provide clear, professional system walkthroughs and training for end-users. Identify system vulnerabilities or expansion opportunities to assist our sales team with system upgrades.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Low Voltage Expertise: Proven track record as a field service technician working heavily with commercial access control (e.g., electronic locks, strikes, maglocks) and modern CCTV infrastructure.
- Networking & IP Logic: Strong foundational knowledge of TCP/IP networking, subnets, port forwarding, and Wi-Fi architecture to get security devices online.
- Technical Literacy: Proficient in reading and interpreting complex wiring diagrams, manufacturer manuals, and construction blueprints.
- Hands-on Craftsmanship: Solid mechanical aptitude; comfortable operating power tools, handling basic locksmithing hardware, and terminating Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber optic cables cleanly.
- Code & Safety Compliance: Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and safe construction practices.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a client-first mindset—capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical users cleanly and professionally.
