Elwyn is opening two newly renovated ELS classrooms at their Baring Street Center (4060 Baring St, Philadelphia, PA 19104) this November, and we’re growing our team to support them. Each classroom serves about 20 learners who benefit from a more specialized setting, and most receive SLP, OT, or special instruction services. Learners attend AM and PM groups Monday through Friday, with 10 learners in each group.
Two Small Talk OTs and one SLP are already on board. We’re looking for an SLP to take on the remaining classroom caseload. You’re welcome to start with just the AM or PM group (about 10 children) and grow from there.
Our Culture
Small Talk Therapeutic Services was started by three speech therapists (and parents) who wanted to build the kind of practice we’d want to work for ourselves. We’re working towards a few big things, which include: making sure every learner has access to communication and accommodations, advocating for disability rights, removing the financial barrier of services for families, and mentoring the next generation of therapists to be neurodiversity-affirming.
Community in a traveling, community-based position can feel hard, so we try our best to bridge this gap. Our team meetings, group chats, and get-togethers at our East Falls space are there when they're helpful and easy to skip when life is busy.
Many of the families we serve live in parts of Philadelphia where quality therapy has been hard to find, and they deserve providers who show up with an open mind. No family should get less care because of their zip code. We meet families where they are, respect how they live and parent, and treat them as the experts on their own kids.
