We're looking for a therapist who aligns with our values of open-mindedness, kindness, and accessibility to join our Early Intervention team in Philadelphia, serving children birth to 5 through Birth–3 Early Intervention and Elwyn Early Learning Services (ages 3–5). This is a mobile, contract (1099) position with a minimum commitment of 10 sessions per week—full-time hours are available.
Our Values
- Open-mindedness
- Kindness
- Organization
- Reliability
- Accessibility
Our Culture
Small Talk Therapeutic Services was started by three speech therapists (and parents) who wanted to build the kind of practice we’d want to work for ourselves. We’re working towards a few big things, which include: making sure every learner has access to communication and accommodations, advocating for disability rights, removing the financial barrier of services for families, and mentoring the next generation of therapists to be neurodiversity-affirming.
Community in a traveling, community-based position can feel hard, so we try our best to bridge this gap. Our team meetings, group chats, and get-togethers at our East Falls space are there when they're helpful and easy to skip when life is busy.
Many of the families we serve live in parts of Philadelphia where quality therapy has been hard to find, and they deserve providers who show up with an open mind. No family should get less care because of their zip code. We meet families where they are, respect how they live and parent, and treat them as the experts on their own kids.
What We Offer
- $90–$105 pay-per-visit rate, based on experience and program
- $1000 sign-on bonus if committing to 25 sessions per week
- Flexible scheduling
- Voluntary benefits available: dental, vision, and short-term disability (including maternity leave)
What Makes Us Different
- Continuing education and training opportunities
- Access to shared clinic space in East Falls
- Access to lending library with therapy materials, printer, and laminator
- Access to free mentorship with our lead speech language pathologist, occupational therapist, feeding specialist, and neuro-affirming BCBA
- Paid growth opportunities outside of direct therapy: graduate student supervision, community trainings, and leadership/mentorship roles
- Values-based agency that prioritizes social justice, family partnership, and neurodiversity-affirming care
What You'll Do
- Provide Early Intervention services to children birth–5: IFSP-based services for birth–3 and IEP-based services for ages 3–5 through Elwyn
- Support sensory regulation, daily living skills, and fine motor development through play-based, child-led interventions
- Coach and collaborate with caregivers and interdisciplinary team members to support family goals
- Develop and update functional, strengths-based goals
- Maintain documentation, session notes, and reports per EI, Elwyn, city, and state requirements
- Attend IFSP and IEP meetings and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Who We're Looking For
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
- Licensed or license-eligible as an OT in Pennsylvania
- Experience with children birth–5 preferred, not required
- Understanding of, or openness to learning, family-centered, ND-affirming, and relationship-based practices
- Kind, curious, and grounded in respect for learners and families
- Organized, collaborative, and values-driven
- Committed to equity, inclusion, and authentic, respectful care
- Strong communication skills, organized, timely, and respectful about deadlines
This is a great role for an OT who wants to make a real difference in a way that feels impactful to the community we live in. If you're passionate about supporting kids and families of diverse backgrounds and communication profiles, Small Talk might be the place for you!
