The Communications Specialist is responsible for implementing strategies for internal and external messaging while managing media relations and events to ensure consistent and strategic communication aligned with company goals and ensuring employee engagement.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for fielding media inquiries, drafting press releases and holding statements and pitching stories to the media in order to help clarify and advocate for the company’s point of view.
  • Draft and/or review messages, comments, speeches and presentations for company leadership to ensure continuity of messaging and corporate goals.
  • Responsible for implementing internal communication strategies that ensure employees work toward common goals and build employee engagement and trust.
  • Develop content for social media and external websites that builds positive public image.
  • Prepare corporate newsletters and/or other company-wide communications.
  • In coordination with Health & Safety teams, prepare and disseminate information during emergencies to manage reputation.
  • Work closely with the Government Affairs team to develop communications for use with stakeholders and/or at public hearings and meetings as well as promote charitable goals and volunteer events in our communities.
  • Coordinate with Investor Relations Team to announce quarterly company earnings, leadership announcements and website updates.

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works effectively with different teams and stakeholders as well as diverse platforms and audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience creating successful partnerships with cross-functional internal and external teams for implementation of programs and practices.
  • Demonstrated success with cohesive analysis and assessment of impact using both key quantitative and qualitative data points.

Typical Experience: Oil and gas experience preferred. Media and/or journalism background preferred. Proficient with social media platforms.

Typical Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

Salary : $68,000 - $78,000
