Role Description The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. The SLPA will support licensed speech-language pathologists by implementing treatment plans, delivering direct therapy services, and assisting with bilingual (Spanish-English) speech and language activities as appropriate to training and supervision. Day-to-day tasks include preparing therapy materials, conducting individual and small-group sessions, documenting progress notes, and reporting observations to supervising clinicians. The SLPA will travel to homes and partner schools within the Houston area, collaborate with caregivers and educators, and help maintain a culturally responsive, family-centered approach to service delivery. Additional responsibilities include adhering to ethical guidelines, following all regulatory and documentation requirements, and participating in team meetings and ongoing training.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in speech and speech therapy, including implementing treatment activities under supervision and supporting speech and language development.
- Candidates should possess skills related to communication and communication disorders, including understanding basic diagnostic terminology and supporting individualized goals.
- Candidates should possess skills in articulation, including assisting with sound production practice and reinforcement activities designed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
- Associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program; eligibility for SLPA licensure or registration in Texas.
- Basic proficiency in Spanish and English preferred, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Experience working with children in educational or clinical settings is beneficial, along with reliable transportation for visits within the Houston area.
