What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd Shift Industrial Maintenance Technician position at slocomb windows and doors?
Position Overview
We are seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of production equipment used in vinyl window manufacturing.
Because 3rd shift runs fewer production lines, this role is heavily focused on preventative maintenance, equipment cleaning/inspection, and preparing the facility for next-day operations, while also responding to any equipment or facility issues that arise overnight.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is self-directed, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working autonomously on a night shift
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventative maintenance on production lines (vinyl saws, welders, corner cleaners, milling equipment, punch presses, HVAC-driven cooling systems, etc.).
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot:
- Pneumatic systems (air cylinders, valves, manifolds).
- Older-style control boards, drives, and relays.
- Servo-motor systems and modern control modules.
- Conveyors, material-handling equipment, and ancillary support systems.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Perform corrective repairs on equipment downtime events during overnight operations.
- Communicate any carry-over issues to the day-shift maintenance team.
Facility & Safety
- Conduct routine building and infrastructure checks (air compressors, lighting, forklifts, power distribution, etc.).
- Support plant safety initiatives—lockout/tagout, guarding, spill containment, and compliance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Technical Support
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Assist in continuous-improvement projects and equipment upgrades as needed.
- Collaborate with maintenance leadership to improve PM programs and machine reliability.
Qualifications
Required:
- 2 years of industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or related experience.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics, motors, electrical circuits, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot using multimeters, hand tools, and basic diagnostic methods.
- Strong self-management skills and comfort working independently on 3rd shift.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with servo-controlled machinery or CNC systems.
- Familiarity with older drive cards, relay-based controls, or retrofitted legacy equipment.
- Maintenance experience in fenestration, plastics, or metal fabrication environments.
- Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation.

- 10-hour shift
- 4x10
- Evening shift
- Sunday to Thursday
- Weekends as needed

- Competitive hourly pay shift differential.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
