Senior Privacy Operations Officer

Pay: $100/hr

About the job:

This role involves coordinating privacy programs, conducting assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance,

and supporting the institution’s privacy goals in collaboration with legal, IT, and leadership teams.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a bachelor’s degree and has at least 7 years of privacy work experience

• Possesses professional privacy certification (e.g., CIPP, PECB/CDPO, CPD)

• Has experience with privacy management tools such as OneTrust

• Brings legal experience (preferred) and familiarity with higher education, healthcare, or research settings

• Has experience conducting AI assessments

• Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills

• Has broad knowledge of privacy regulations including FERPA, HIPAA, CA 1798.82, CMIA, and global laws

(GDPR, LGPD, PIPL, PIPA)

• Has practical experience responding to data security incidents

• Can lead data protection risk management programs with sound judgment and pragmatism

• Understands information technology systems and cybersecurity fundamentals

What you’ll do:

• Coordinate all privacy operations activities and ensure quality control compliance

• Provide expert privacy guidance on complex matters

• Conduct privacy assessments for projects, systems, and departments

• Work with and respond to requests from Data Protection Champions

• Promote privacy best practices through training and awareness programs

• Develop guidance documents on privacy topics

• Coordinate incident response and investigations

• Maintain and update privacy policies

• Monitor developments in privacy laws and adjust strategy accordingly

• Represent the Privacy Office in meetings and activities

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Privacy Officer
