Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, poaching stations, braising pans, and food production appliances safely and efficiently
- Follow strict food safety sanitizing procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients and dishes that meet quality standards and presentation guidelines
- Handle food with care, ensuring proper food handling techniques are followed at all times
- Contribute to high-volume production tasks while adhering to recipe adherence and portion control standards
- Maintain organization of the kitchen workspace, including storage areas and equipment cleaning routines
- Assist with catering events or special meal preparations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
Experience
- Previous dietary aide or dietary department experience is highly valued
- Proven background in food service or restaurant environments with a focus on food handling and safety management
- Experience in fine dining or high-volume kitchens demonstrating proficiency in cooking techniques such as grilling, braising, poaching, and meal preparation
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and food industry best practices
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and catering operations is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
