Job Summary
Pearl’s Bagels & Bakery is seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Team Member to join our scratch bakery and café in Albany, NY. This role supports daily kitchen operations including hot and cold food preparation, sandwich assembly, dishwashing, kitchen organization, sanitation, inventory support, and general back-of-house operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen, and takes pride in maintaining high standards for food quality and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Prepare hot and cold menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
- Assemble sandwiches, bagels, spreads, vegetables, lox, and other food items.
- Complete daily food preparation and restocking before and during service.
- Maintain organized refrigeration, prep areas, storage areas, and kitchen stations.
- Receive, label, rotate, and put away food and supply deliveries.
- Keep kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and floors clean and sanitized.
- Support dishwashing and back-of-house cleaning throughout the shift.
- Monitor ingredients and communicate prep or inventory needs to management.
- Assist with trash removal, recycling, and general kitchen organization.
- Work closely with other kitchen team members to maintain an efficient service flow.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Requirements
- Previous professional kitchen, restaurant, bakery, or food-preparation experience preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food quality.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and assigned daytime shifts.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established kitchen procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- $25–$29/hour average total compensation
- Base pay plus weekly credit-card tips and daily cash tips
