The Arson Investigator earns a competitive hourly salary of $49.94-$54.57/hour, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. Essential Functions
- Performs fire inspections of new and existing facilities and/or structures to ensure compliance with various laws and City Ordinances.
- Meets with contractors and examines building plans as needed to discuss projects under construction.
- Performs plan reviews of facilities and/or structures being proposed in the City to ensure they meet the requirements as adopted by the City.
- Performs fire investigations.
- Performs investigations related to professional standards.
- Enforces environmental crimes.
- Manages evidence in the event of criminal acts.
- Performs data entry, record keeping, and reporting.
- Ensures evidence is secure related to investigations Enforces federal, state, and local laws and codes.
- Performs fire prevention education.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in fire science or closely related field.
- Experience is preferred pertaining to fire inspections, fire investigation, or closely related experience.
- TCOLE Peace Officer Certification
- TCFP Fire Inspector Certification
- TCFP Fire Investigator Certification
- Plans Examiner I (preferred, but not required)
- ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
- Texas Class "C" Driver's License
Salary : $50 - $55
