SLAHR is hiring a Field Service Support (FSS) Technician to support Wynndalco Enterprises with on-site technology service for NYC Department of Education schools.
This is a hands-on field service position for someone with experience repairing, troubleshooting, and working with computers, laptops, Chromebooks, printers, and other technology equipment. Candidates should be comfortable diagnosing hardware problems, replacing or repairing components, setting up devices, and troubleshooting software and operating-system issues.
Technicians will travel between school sites throughout the Bronx and work from assigned service tickets.
This is not a remote-only IT position. Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience is strongly preferred.
Important Pre-Employment Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening before beginning the assignment, including:
- Background check
- Drug screening
- Any additional screening required for access to NYC Department of Education locations
What You'll Do
- Travel to NYC DOE schools throughout the Bronx to complete assigned service tickets
- Repair and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, and classroom technology
- Diagnose hardware and software issues
- Replace, repair, install, and configure technology equipment
- Assist with device deployments, replacements, setups, moves, and reconnections
- Pick up failed or end-of-life equipment and transport it to the NYC warehouse
- Maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation for equipment
- Document completed work accurately and the same day
- Identify and document work that falls outside the assigned scope
- Communicate professionally with teachers, school administrators, and IT staff
- Maintain organized tools, parts, and equipment
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of hands-on hardware repair, IT deployment, or field service experience
- Hands-on experience repairing or troubleshooting laptops, desktop computers, printers, or similar technology
- Experience diagnosing hardware and software problems
- Experience installing, configuring, or replacing computer and printer components
- Working knowledge of Windows and ChromeOS
- Basic familiarity with macOS/iPadOS
- Basic networking knowledge, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and IP connectivity
- Experience working with ticketing systems
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to travel between school sites throughout the Bronx daily
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Professional communication skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening
Preferred Experience
- CompTIA A or equivalent certification
- K-12 or school technology experience
- OEM repair experience with Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, or Apple
- Printer repair and troubleshooting experience
- Laptop and desktop repair experience
- Previous field service experience
- Experience troubleshooting both hardware and software issues
