Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction
Locations: Washington DC and Northern Virginia
Our client, a well-regarded General Contractor in the DC and NoVA markets, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their team. If you’re an emerging construction professional eager to work on impactful commercial projects and learn from seasoned industry experts, this role could be a fantastic fit.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Project Manager to oversee the life cycle of commercial/Multi-Family construction projects, assisting with key phases from planning to closeout. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction management and take your career to the next level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager in creating schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating project phases to keep everything on track.
- Assist in coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain project quality and timeliness.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications.
- Prepare and manage project documents such as submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Track project costs, help implement cost-control strategies, and support documentation for accurate project accounting.
- Communicate with stakeholders to maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
What You Bring:
- At least 3 years of experience working for a General Contractor.
- Experience with ground up or large value projects above $20M.
- Familiarity with project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction management tools.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience also considered.
