What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Materials Specialist position at SkyWater Technology?
SkyWater is hiring a hands-on Chemical Materials Specialist to support chemical and specialty gas receiving at our Kissimmee site. This role ensures incoming materials are safely handled, accurately documented, and properly stored to support manufacturing operations. This is an individual contributor position focused on day-to-day receiving and materials handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and verify chemical and specialty gas deliveries then perform incoming quality checks and review documentation
- Maintain packing slips, SDS information, and receiving records
- Enter receipts into NetSuite/ERP systems
- Safely move, stock, and stage chemicals and gases
- Support inventory accuracy and follow FIFO practices
- Coordinate returns and shipping paperwork
- Maintain clean, safe dock and storage areas
- Partner with Procurement, Stores, Manufacturing, EHS, and Quality
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years in warehouse/receiving/materials roles
- Experience handling industrial chemicals or specialty gases
- Background in receiving inspection or IQA
- Knowledge of SDS and chemical hazards
- Experience with ERP or inventory systems
- Basic Excel skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse/dock settings
- Strong attention to detail and procedure compliance
- Required to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with some flexibility
- U.S. citizenship required. This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or related technical coursework
- Hazmat shipping or CFATS/COI experience
- Experience in semiconductor, chemical, or advanced manufacturing environments
- NetSuite or chemical management software familiarity
- Forklift or drum-handling experience
Environment:
- Will support shift coverage as needed
- Work performed in warehouse, dock, chemical room, and manufacturing support areas
- Must follow all safety, PPE, and chemical handling requirements
