SkyWater is partnering with a growing engineering firm in the Minneapolis area who’s looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team! This person will have the opportunity to work on one-of-a-kind projects from concept through installation. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design complex, mechanized structures for clients across a variety of industries (entertainment, aerospace / defense, etc.) and will work on projects across the United States. Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design work including detailed calculations, component selection, and development of custom assemblies (drive systems, gears, linear & rotary motion components, structural weldments, etc.).
• Engage in design reviews and technical meetings with external project stakeholders.
• Oversee prototype development and testing activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on design projects (engineering teams, purchasing/procurement, manufacturing, etc.).
• Identify opportunities to improve product designs and work with leadership to make these improvements.
• Occasional travel to project sites (mainly domestic and around 10% travel).
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Desired Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
• 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, design engineering, project engineering or a related engineering position(s).
• Experience designing large, custom mechanical equipment is preferred.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
