SkyWater is partnering with a booming engineering firm in the Minneapolis area who’s looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their growing team! This person will have the opportunity to work on large, one-of-a-kind projects from concept through installation. The Principal Mechanical Engineer will design complex, mechanized structures for clients across a variety of industries (entertainment, observatories, aerospace/defense, etc.) and will work on projects across the United States. Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical design work including detailed calculations, component selection, and development of custom assemblies (drive systems, gears, linear & rotary motion components, structural weldments, etc.).
• Engage in design reviews and technical meetings with external project stakeholders.
• Oversee prototype development and testing activities. Document findings and incorporate results into final designs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on design projects (engineering teams, purchasing/procurement, manufacturing, etc.).
• Identify opportunities to improve product designs and work with leadership to make these improvements.
• Occasional travel to project sites (mainly domestic and under 10% travel).
• Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
  
  

Desired Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
• 10 years of engineering experience within mechanical, design or related engineering positions.
• Experience designing large, custom mechanical systems or equipment is highly preferred.
• PE or EIT certification a plus.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
