ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT DESIGNER

Las Vegas, NV (In-person)

Full-Time (Salary)

At Skyterra, we design high-end modern residential architecture rooted in meaning, craft, and place. We are looking for an Architectural Project Designer who is passionate about exceptional design and eager to contribute in a collaborative, boutique studio environment.

Licensed candidates may be considered for an adjusted title and compensation.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design of high-end residential architecture, interiors, and landscapes with support and direction from the Principal Architect through sketching, 2D drafting, and 3D modeling in Revit and SketchUp.
  • Develop and direct clear, compelling visual presentations including InDesign layouts, Enscape 3D renderings, diagrams, and other materials to communicate design intent.
  • Conduct site visits and site analysis to understand opportunities, constraints, and project context.
  • Research, interpret, and apply building codes, zoning regulations, and HOA requirements to ensure project feasibility and compliance.
  • Explore and evaluate materials, technologies, and construction strategies that support Skyterra’s design vision.
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, guiding them throughout the design process and representing the Skyterra brand with clarity and confidence.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, building departments, and HOAs to keep projects aligned and moving forward.
  • Organize and collaborate with internal team members including design assistants, project coordinators, and interior designers, ensuring clarity around roles, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop and contribute to construction documents that align with design intent and firm standards.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain project communications including emails, meeting notes, RFIs, and approvals to create a clear record of decisions.
  • Maintain organized digital project files so information is easy to find, share, and reference.
  • Participate in construction observation, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, coordinating site meetings, and helping ensure construction aligns with drawings and design intent.
  • Help manage project timelines, foresee risks, and communicate proactively to support successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to ongoing refinement of Skyterra’s design and documentation standards by exploring new tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Support firm-wide storytelling and marketing efforts by contributing design imagery and project content.

Who You Are

  • You have strong design sensibility and are passionate about creating meaningful modern residential architecture.
  • You likely have five or more years of architectural experience, and you hold a professional architectural degree or a closely related design degree; licensure is valued but not required.
  • You are highly proficient in SketchUp, able to generate and manipulate 3D geometry, translating ideas into 3D representation with confidence and ease.
  • You have foundational proficiency in Revit, including modeling projects of moderate complexity [LOD 300], setting up sheets and views, creating and managing schedules, annotating drawings, and developing details.
  • You have experience using Enscape (or similar real-time rendering tools such as Twinmotion or Lumion) for design evaluation, walkthroughs, and rendering.
  • You are familiar with AutoCAD and can navigate and modify drawings when needed.
  • You incorporate basic AI tools (like ChatGPT) to create efficiencies in your personal workflow.
  • You understand the fundamentals of building assemblies, systems, and material detailing and integrate this knowledge into design work.
  • You are familiar with the foundations of building code and understand how to conduct, interpret, and apply regulatory research to support design and approvals.
  • You have foundational experience coordinating with engineering consultants and reviewing their drawings for structural, MEP, and civil integration.
  • You’re detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • You communicate clearly, listen well, and understand the separation between self and the work—your priority is always the best project outcome.
  • You’re proactive, willing to pick up the phone or bring in a teammate to problem-solve and maintain momentum.
  • You’re energized by a small studio environment where you can contribute across all phases and help shape a growing firm.
  • You embrace change, explore new tools and methods, and are driven by design excellence.
