Forklift Operator / Material Handler
Location: Lorton, VA
Schedule: 6:00AM-2:30PM
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Position Type: Contract with Possibility of Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Forklift Operator / Material Handler to join our team in Lorton, VA. The Forklift Operator / Material Handler will be responsible for safely operating a forklift, loading and unloading trucks, supporting warehouse operations, and maintaining inventory accuracy. This is a contract position with the potential for permanent hire based on performance and business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely to move products from production lines to designated storage locations.
- Load and unload products from company transport vehicles.
- Verify load sheets and ensure trucks receive the correct equipment and product loads.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and loading areas.
- Participate in daily inventory activities, including cycle counts and inventory verification.
- Assist with product ordering and inventory control processes.
- Perform shipping and receiving functions.
- Support warehouse and production teams as needed.
- Complete required paperwork and data entry accurately.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience as a Forklift Operator / Material Handler required.
- Current forklift certification required.
- Valid and current driver's license required.
- Ability to work safely in various weather conditions.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 66 lbs safely and repeatedly.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience with inventory management and cycle counting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
