Schedule: Must be open to working both 1st and 2nd shifts. Overtime and extended hours may be required during peak seasons.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Yard Associate to join our team in Herman, MN. This hands-on role supports daily yard and facility operations, including material handling, loading and unloading trucks and railcars, inventory support, grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and general labor activities.
The ideal candidate will have an agriculture background, with construction experience considered a plus, and must be a strong team player who enjoys working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. This position is perfect for someone who is safety-focused, reliable, and willing to take on a variety of tasks to help keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties, including cleaning, sweeping, shoveling, power washing, and facility upkeep.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and railcars.
- Prepare trucks and railcars for loading and unloading operations.
- Operate automated scale and dump systems.
- Move, organize, and monitor inventory and materials throughout the yard and facility.
- Operate loaders, conveyors, tractors, and other material-handling equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
- Assist with inventory quality control and monitoring.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and operational records.
- Perform grounds maintenance, housekeeping, and cleanup duties.
- Work closely with team members to support efficient operations.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with customers, drivers, and visitors.
- Report maintenance needs, equipment issues, and safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.
QualificationsRequired
- Must meet minimum age requirements.
- At least 1 year of experience in agriculture, warehouse, operations, construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Ability to work both 1st and 2nd shifts.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred
- Agriculture background preferred.
- Construction experience helpful.
- Experience operating loaders, tractors, conveyors, forklifts, or similar equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, bins, and railcars.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in dusty environments.
Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
