In the Full-Time Senior Accountant position at SkyOne Federal Credit Union, your primary responsibilities will include the meticulous maintenance of daily accounting functions and the preparation and posting of accurate, timely journal entries within established schedules. You will also conduct daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger reconciliations, proactively addressing any outstanding GL issues to ensure a seamless financial process. Additionally, you will prepare essential financial and management reports, which play a crucial role in the accurate and timely closing of our financial books, including Board reports and the NCUA’s 5300 Call report. What we're looking for in a Senior Accountant
To thrive as a Full-Time Senior Accountant at SkyOne Federal Credit Union, a blend of technical skills and professional attributes is crucial. Proficiency in accounting software, including AvidXchange, is essential for maintaining the fixed assets ledger and executing timely journal entries. A strong foundation in general ledger reconciliations and variance analyses is fundamental for preparing accurate financial reports, such as the NCUA 5300 Report and Board reports.
Attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex transactions ensure compliance with investment policies and effective management of accounts payable functions. Must possess excellent communication skills to respond professionally to member inquiries and collaborate with internal teams. Additionally, the capacity to identify process efficiencies and comply with BSA and OFAC regulations is vital.
A proactive mindset and a commitment to cross-training team members will further enhance internal controls within the department, fostering a culture of accountability and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting field.
- Financial services industry preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
- Proactive, self-motivated, ability to think creatively and the individual should demonstrate curiosity and passion.
- Ability to work autonomously, as a team member, and in a cross-functional capacity with other departments to accomplish responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of financial products and services.
- Ability to exercise discretion and sound independent judgment.
- Strong time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, demonstrating excellent critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively handle confidential information and materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles.
- Thorough knowledge of the General Ledger system.
- Proficient and accurate use of 10 key calculators and other office machines
