Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Skylands Medical Group is an independent, primary care based, community based, multi-specialty medical group. We are experienced in responding to our communities’ changing needs by providing appropriate quality health care in a cost-effective manner throughout the Northern New Jersey area!
We are currently seeking a full-time CMA for our office located in Oak Ridge, NJ. This position requires approximately 32 hours per week.
Major Duties/Responsibilities - Clinical
- Greets patients at reception area and escorts to exam rooms.
- Document vital signs, patient history and reviews medications with patients in EMR.
- Assist provider(s) with all procedures.
- Performs venipuncture and completes EKG testing.
- Completes patient referrals.
- Adequately stocks exam/procedure room.
- Completes precertification of surgeries.
- Sets up VNA care as per physician order.
- Refills/e-prescribes medications under direction of Physician.
- Follows OSHA regulations.
- Schedules x-rays and lab procedures as requested by providers.
- Performs general housekeeping duties for exam and procedure rooms.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Major Duties/Responsibilities – Reception
- Retrieve voice mail messages and returns calls as necessary.
- Greets patients and answers telephones in a courteous and professional manner.
- Triage calls and furnishes information.
- Documents telephone calls and accurately records messages in patient EMR.
- Schedules appointments for patient office visits.
- Verifies patients’ insurance, and co-payments and provides a receipt for cash payments.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current and valid CMA certification required
- Previous experience in office environment
- Willing to cross train and cover both clinical and receptionist duties
- Must express exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds under emergent circumstances with assistance from fellow coworkers
- Ability to utilize standard medical/clinical equipment
- All other duties as assigned
