POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an Avionics Service Technician who will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and installing avionics systems in customer aircraft. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and resolving avionics-related discrepancies while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. The technician must communicate effectively with supervisors and customers regarding repair status and job completion timelines.
Using sound judgment and technical aptitude, the Avionics Technician makes decisions regarding system troubleshooting, installation, and repair. This position requires a high level of competency and the ability to work with minimal supervision. As a customer-facing role, professional appearance and strong communication skills are essential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot and repair avionics systems, including but not limited to:
- Flight Management Systems (FMS)
- Satcom and Airborne Radio Telephone Systems
- Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) / Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS)
- Communications, Navigation, Radar, TCAS/XPDR, DME
- Autopilot/Flight Director, Audio, ADF
- Cabin Management / In-Flight Entertainment (IFE)
- Install avionics systems and components on customer aircraft.
- Utilize and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams, system schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
- Perform modifications and repairs, including wire routing, terminations, and functional testing.
- Conduct inspections in accordance with R.V.S.M., FAR 91.411, and FAR 91.413 certifications.
- Use electrical and manual hand tools, test equipment, wire markers, and soldering equipment.
- Accurately document all work accomplished in compliance with company and FAA standards.
- Work required overtime and travel to customer locations as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping policies.
- Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the company.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of experience in avionics maintenance, installation, or repair within the aviation industry or military equivalent.
- Prior experience within an FAA-regulated environment (e.g., Part 135, or Part 145) is required
- Corporate aircraft maintenance experience required, GA aircraft experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD software for wiring diagrams and schematics is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain an FAA Repairman Certificate.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Sheet metal experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Formal avionics systems and electronics training.
PHYSICAL & COMPLIANCE REQUIREMNTS
- Ability to work in an aircraft hangar or flight line environment, exposed to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, and work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to travel to customer locations as required.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required
- Valid and current US Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a 10-year criminal background check and FAA DOT drug test.
- Compliance with company FAA-approved Anti-Drug and Anti-Alcohol Abuse Program.
PAY
- $30-40 hourly based off experience and interview.
