Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out processes with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth
- Review and update patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and documentation review for treatment plans
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly
- Maintain organized filing of dental records, medical charts, and office documentation
- Support medical coding activities including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient intake and ensure smooth clinic flow
- Manage office supplies inventory and ensure the front desk area remains welcoming and efficient
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental office or medical administrative support role with strong clinic experience
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Meditech, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and health information management standards
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and typing speed (10 key typing)
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately using systems such as Athenahealth or other EHR platforms
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality
- Previous dental office experience or clinic experience highly preferred
