JOB SUMMARY:
The Grounds Supervisor reports directly to the Facilities Manager and will be responsible for the daily grounds maintenance of all areas at the Sky Ute Casino Resort. The Grounds Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the grounds maintenance crew, coordinating all repairs and alterations of the grounds, maintaining all roads and sidewalks, landscaping, automatic sprinkler/irrigation systems, and storm water management/detention areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plan, assign and review work activities of assigned grounds maintenance crews and personnel and
train grounds maintenance personnel in proper techniques and procedures in the use of tools, equipment, and chemical applications.
2. Organize spraying, mowing, and pruning.
3. Inspect work in progress and completion for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
4. Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel and provide feedback to Facilities Manager.
5. Oversee operation of power equipment.
6. Verify equipment is in safe and proper operating condition.
7. Assist in completing grounds maintenance work as needed to insure a stable and balance team dynamic.
8. Assist in reviewing work order requests and recommend proper methods, tools, equipment, and personnel for completing jobs.
9. Supervise, oversee, and coordinate crews in planting, fertilizing, pruning, pesticide applications, spraying and maintaining shrubs, trees, and landscaped areas.
10. Coordinate and participate in pesticide applications, planting, and fertilizing activities.
11. Oversee all snow removal and ice as necessary to provide a safe environment all around the Sky Ute Casino Resort.
12. Advise irrigation personnel in planning, installing, and repairing automatic sprinkler systems.
13. Provide and maintain inspections of playgrounds for compliance with safety standards.
14. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
15. Assist the Facilities department in a variety of general tasks.
16. Other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be at least 21 years old
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
· Must have at least 2 years’ experience in 3 or more related fields (Electrical, Automatic Sprinkler systems, Asphalt Repairs, Hydraulic System, Horticulture, Pesticides and Herbicides, and Heavy Equipment Operation).
· License or certification in one or more related fields preferred.
· Must have an extensive knowledge of operations, maintenance, and repair of Grounds equipment.
· Must have the ability to train work with staff to ensure appropriate usage of equipment.
· Must have the ability to develop and display strong leadership and mentorship skills to foster teamwork within the department.
· Must be creative and flexible with strong communications skills.
· Must have the ability to interact with coworkers, contractors, and customers often under the pressure of meeting deadlines.
· Must be able to effectively explain or present information to individuals or groups.
· Computer skills with proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferred.
· Must have excellent attendance and be willing and able to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Must be able to report to the Casino for off hour snow removal or emergencies within 45 minutes of inclement weather notifications or snow accumulation guidelines set by the department.
· Must be able to work with a wide variety of individuals with different personalities.
· Must demonstrate ability to develop teamwork and follow instructions.
· Must be organized.
· Must have excellent customer service skills.
· Must be physically capable of performing all duties as outlined.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.

· Must have a full range of motion and adequate strength in the use of hands and arms.
· Must have 20/20 vision (with corrective lenses).
· Must be able to work with lifts, ladders, and other equipment without the fear of heights.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Must be able to work in a cold or extreme heat environment.
· May be exposed to wet conditions and airborne particles that may be toxic or caustic.
· Will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and electrical apparatuses that can cause electrical shock.
· Must be able to work with a wide variety of individuals with different personalities.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud and occasionally very loud.
· Must be able to constantly work under close surveillance cameras.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Candidate selected for employment will be subject to pre-employment drug test, employment reference and background check.
· Must sign a confidentiality agreement at time of hire.
· Must obtain and maintain a Sky Ute Casino Resort Staff Badge.
· Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino’s policies and procedures, Gaming Code regulations and any applicable policies and regulations set forth by the Casino Resort.
