- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions
- Perform data entry and maintain detailed records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account analysis
- Assist in preparing financial reports and supporting audit requests in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards
- Contribute to governmental and non-profit accounting functions, including tax preparation and grant tracking when applicable
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and corporate accounting practices
- Proficiency with financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms
- Ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping accurately
- Excellent data entry skills with high attention to detail; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred
- Solid understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and financial acumen
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and experience working within public or government-related accounting environments is advantageous
