The Director of Day Camp Operations is responsible for the development and execution of the Day Camp ministry content and operations. The Camp Director oversees the Day Camp Summer staff and collaborates with the Global Leadership Team to ensure the highest levels of safety, execute excellent ministry programs, maximize guest satisfaction, and maintain financial sustainability. This includes oversight of the operational calendar, leading and developing staff, engaging in guest relations, setting and tracking to the annual budget, and championing strong communication. This position also has day-to-day responsibility for implementing and directing all facets of the ministry programs, including alignment with Sky Ranch’s mission, vision, and values. The Camp Director will lead in working toward compliance with the ACA accreditation program for the day camp programs. |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and maintain relationships with organizations, churches, and schools in the North Texas area to plan and execute Day Camp programs at their facilities.
- Execute and refine the strategic plan and lead the general operations for the camp, which includes managing the logistics, calendars, and operations.
- Manage the full budget for the camp, including financial reports as needed.
- Manage all permits, contracts, etc.
- Manage seasonal opening and closing of facility for summer camps
- Find locations to host campers that fit our camper demographic and marketing base. Travel required during fall, spring, and summer.
- Ensure that the camp activities and operations are safe and operable.
- Retail duties.
- Oversee both the development of and the day-to-day execution of camp specific programs to ensure that ministry programs, activities, and operations are safe, operable, and staffed.
- Train and manage summer staff assigned to all Day Camp site locations.
- Locate and manage housing and meals for all requiring summer staff
- Organize and schedule all maintenance, inspections, rentals, and insurance of activities and vehicles.
- Manage distribution of all AV equipment.
- Work with risk management and Sky Ranch Staff to ensure excellence in standards defined by our industry and internal policies and procedures.
- Hire and train staff. Provide direction and supervision of direct reports and all staff; provide professional growth and development; develop and communicate goals and objectives; monitor, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback and direction to direct reports; conduct annual performance and ongoing evaluation.
- Provide spiritual leadership for the entire staff and guest community.
- Participate in development and execution of Sky Ranch’s vision and strategic objectives as a member of the Global Leadership Team.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE
- Three years of experience

KNOWLEDGE OF - Basic understanding of the field of summer camp ministries.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic internet and social media skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The position may be located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex or at our East Texas location depending upon the needs of the day camp team. The staff member will need to commute either way.
- Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time.
- Works in and exposed to East Texas environmental conditions part of the time.
- Little to no exposure to physical risk.
- Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends.
