Summary
Our client, a well-established aerospace technology manufacturer based in Burbank, Ca, is seeking an Engineering Director to lead their engineering organization. This is a search on behalf of a respected name in aerospace electronics serving commercial, business, and military aircraft markets.
About the Opportunity
This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing a team of 10–15 engineers, responsible for driving innovation, technical excellence, and product development/sustainment for mission-critical aerospace electronic systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering technical rigor and collaboration
- Oversee development, qualification, and certification of aerospace electronic systems, ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements
- Provide technical oversight for system design, integration, and performance optimization
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, product reliability, and manufacturing support
- Partner cross-functionally with program management, business development, and operations to align engineering with business goals
- Serve as subject matter expert supporting customer engagements, proposals, and technical presentations
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, and project timelines
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 10 years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering within aerospace
- Deep knowledge of electronic system design principles and integration
- Experience with airborne systems certification (FAA, DO-160, RTCA, MIL-STD, etc.)
- Proven leadership managing engineering teams
- Familiarity with aircraft installation and integration constraints
- Experience with both defense and commercial aerospace customers
- Strong communication and decision-making skills; proficiency in MS Office and Project
